Regatta Information
 Most
of our regattas are held at Sandy Run Regional Park, a part of the Northern
Virginia Regional Park Authority system on the Occoquan Reservoir. You can
learn more about Sandy Run by visiting the National Capital Region
Scholastic Rowing Association (NCRSRA) web site (www.ncrsra.org). Sandy Run is one of the
finest rowing facilities on the East Coast. A typical regatta consists of
about 25 events with up to six schools entering each heat. In addition to
local schools, occasionally visiting teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersey or
the Tidewater area compete. We also recently has a team from Ohio
compete. Click the Lake Ridge Park & Oxford Boathouse links on the left to learn about our
Oxford boathouse. Sandy Run charges a nominal parking fee, which is used
to help to offset the cost of regattas. For the past several years it has
been $5.00. Wear comfortable shoes, the grandstands are about a mile from
the parking lots. There is a shuttle that runs from the upper parking lot to
a spot nearby the grandstands for a cost of approximately $1.00 per person.
Many people bring folding chairs or blankets. Dress warmly - the area by the
water can be very cold in the Spring!! Depending on the locations, Hylton also
participates in various "away" regattas. These include The Stotesbury Cup in
New jersey and the SRAA Nationals - held at various locations. Click on links from
on the left to learn about these events.
