Fundraising Information
Since Crew is a "Club" sport, the team does not receive funding from the
school district like most other Hylton sports do. Therefore, fundraising is
VERY important to us! Our fundraising efforts are varied, and we urge all
Crew families to participate. Funds are primarily used to purchase new
equipment, maintenance on our equipment, coaching staff development and
administrative costs.
Our fundraisers include Cookie Dough/Pretzel/Cheesecake sales, Christmas
greenery sale, Specialty Pasta sale, running concession stands at Prince
William Crew Association Regattas, running concession stands at Nissan
Pavilion, working as baggers/recovery clerks at Kohl's and car washes.
Crew is a great sport for developing strength, team spirit and
confidence. It is also a competitive sport. In order to be competitive with
other schools, we need up-to-date equipment: fiberglass shells, oars, cox
boxes, etc. Fundraising is an all year effort.
Hylton crew
parents have manned the booths for concerts at Nissan Pavilion in
return for a percentage of the profits. We made over $5000 in 2002!! An evening at
Nissan is hard work, but is also very entertaining and a good venue to get
to know the other parents. Unfortunately, this fall, due to the sniper
activities, our fund-raising events were severely curtailed. Thanks to the
energetic efforts of a relatively few dedicated rowers and parents, we have
been able to keep ourselves going. We need your help now for this season at
Nissan!!
